I suggest that dating websites are a really bad idea and it is better to get out there and meet people face to face. Find a club or a hobby that you enjoy and get out there and meet people with common interests. That way you find the person you are looking for.

Ha Ha. Schwyz gets a bad rep. It's a beautiful canton and I'd like to stay in it or near it. As long as I can see the Rigi from my house/flat, I'm fine.

Planning on doing that too. I'm not desperate, just very curious as to what's out there. By the way, Vereins are a dying breed, aren't they? In my little village in Canton Schwyz, most of the bachelors who belong to clubs are better off bachelors for the sake of all.

Also try and get away from the "local" environment. Find a club outside of the area that you would normally considder your comfort zone.....that helped me a lot during the times that I have been single, looking for a partner.

I beg to differ. A good friend of mine as well as a family member of mine found their spouses through dating websites If I were single I'd do it! I think it's fun Getting involved with clubs etc as you mentioned is also a very good idea. The more you put yourself out there, the more people you meet and therefore increase your chance of meeting your partner-to-be.

I guess I just don't sell well through the web medium. I never met anything other than boring or gold digging people through the number of different sites that I tried. I know quite a lot of women that have had success through these sites but don't really know any men that have.

I disagree a lot. Most people you meet during the week are 97% known faces and 3% new people. If then again only 3% of the new people you meet is actual "dating material"....you have to meet a lot of people just to get even a little action started.

On the internet dating side of things, I would recommend it - thats how my husband and I met. In the time before meeting him, I had a few interesting and funny dates with all sorts of men, only one was totally off-putting. The best thing about it is, you can be as choosy as you want and you can get to know a fair amount about them (if they're sincere and honest, which admittedly not all are) all before meeting them.
