Re: Frappr map of where we all are in CH

It lets you zoom in and move the little cursor around to pick the exact spot you want via the advanced option. (Set it to a big city, select your icon, *edit*, and then *avanced*. That give you a map that you can work with)

Yes, it's Crappr. I don't live there, it doesn't listen to editing, and it's slowww. ZZZzzzz... nice idea though

Re: Frappr map of where we all are in CH

Hi Stu,

Actually I'm looking at integrating google maps into the forum itself, but it's a bit experimental (that's code for haven't even started yet). I was envisioning that you could use it to mark off restaurants or other things which have been discussed on the forum - but people could mark off where they live as well.

This Frappr thing seems to be nothing more than someone putting a frontend on google maps - also very easy since google gives you the tools to do this.

Maybe - I was actually planning to integrate google maps (see note above) and overhaul the site a bit - there's nowhere for links at the moment. Can't promise any timeframe however.

Re: Frappr map of where we all are in CH

Service was inaccessible for a while, then I tried again hours later.

I couldn't upload a picture. Brings me the error message:
"Your photo was not uploaded successfully. Please try again or use another picture."

I've tried it with 3 different small JPG pictures (<30 KB).

Any ideas why?

Syshack - Frappr is a totally external service and not associated with English forum in any way - you'd have to ask them any such questions.

Ha Ha so it's not just me. I've spent ages trying to get the thing to operate but have also given up. Don't find it worth linking to if it can't edit correctly. Does it like Macs? And while on the theme, is it me or do many sites still not funtion with Mac integrating technology? I HOPE it's me otherwise there're some overpaid developers out there... bah humbug...

Re: Frappr map of where we all are in CH

a fellow Mac user writes:

I have very few problems these days, especially since switching to Firefox. Occasionally things don't work, but there's usually an alternative route.

Frappr worked OK (despite crappy user interface) and this forum works 99% OK.

Frapper worked OK for me and I am using Safari on a Mac but then i didnlt delvve much into what the site does, I just posted my location

I don't have so many problems anymore with websites not being compatible with Safari & Macs, one site that I regularly use has just suddenly stopped supporting safari though which is annoying (www.skyscanner.net) unless its just a problem with my comp. I switched to Firefox to view this website but had equal problems of it constantly refreshing as if i was pressing the back button on my browser!!

Oh well, since some members actually were able to upload their pics, I thought, I might give it a try.
That's OK. There are more important things in the world...
