Preschool

Middle School offers a bilingual immersion academic programme based on the Basel Stadt and UK National Curricula. Children alternate languages on a weekly basis and language support and development is part of the programme. Located in a secluded villa at the end of the tram no. 8 and bus 36, our children are part of the local community whilst working in an international atmosphere.

Prep College

College offers the international GCSE and A-level programme. Our leavers progress into university in Switzerland and world-wide. Based in the heart of Basel centre with easy tram and bus access, students commute with ease from outside of the Basel area.

At academia International School, quality and maximising every student’s academic potential are our top priorities. Our small classes, in-class assistants and focus on the individual enable our students not only to reach their year group academic goals but to exceed them.

A low turnover in staff with a strong ethos of teacher development ensure continued top quality education for our students.

Re: academia International School - an international school Preschool - College

Hi ,we are considering moving to Basel with our 15 year old son. He is not very interested in studying the international bac. as he is currently in the UK system and wants to follow through to A-levels.
I was very pleased to see the arrival of a school which offers UK children the chance to do this and am also attracted to the small class sizes, Academia college.
I was wondering if anyone currently attending and with children studying A-levels there could post and let me know how there children are finding it, also how many children on average per class and how the A-level results have been to date.
Would appreciate any info at all as our decision to move hinges solely on this being an appropriate option and ideally we need to decide as soon as possible.
Thanks

Hi Family 5 what did you manage to find out? We will be in a similar situation in a couple of years. We are waiting until our son finishes his GCSEs and then we will potentially move to Basel. A little premature perhaps but I have been looking at the schools and saw that the Academia did A Levels. It seems very small and Iwould like my son to have a social life and adapt easily. Any thoughts you have would be very interesting to me!

Hi,

I have experience with ais which unfortunately is not positive. But this is not the reason I am writing you. My advice to you would be to contact them and request information like - for how long have they had these levels taught now, how many students do they have in those levels, how many graduated. I know of schools in Basel, which are private and they offer the programme ...but....your son might be the second year or first in many cases...I believe it is essential to know their experience in those levels so you know where you are sending your child. The demand for international schools/english speaking institutions here is so big that they institutions almost are able to monopolize the market.....Just do some research before deciding...I don't want to be the negative mirror but have some not so good impression

Most of luck then!
