- foreigners are first cheated and after some years their salaries get closer and closer to the locals... very interesting...
Chris

Re: Salary for Technical Writer

Well that is my interpretation of the data show if you click "Swiss and foreigners" on the right side and then scroll down to the chart which shows the income by type of residence permit: The longer someone is in Switzerland, the closer the salary gets to the Swiss average... any other explanation then "exploitation of not knowing the price you can ask" is welcome...

Cheers,

Chris

The expats improve their qualifications more in the first few years in Switzerland?

Re: Salary for Technical Writer

And after everyone improves during their first years they stop when they get to a C permit and keep on being lower educated and earn significantly less than the average Swiss employee for the rest of their live?
I don't know...
But I do know that a qualified technical person with higher education and seven years of experience in techwriting in the software sector can ask for more than 71k a year in Zug...

Cheers,

Chris

Have you noted that that figure is a median?

Re: Salary for Technical Writer

Hi Frederic,

I know very little about salaries in Zug but in Basel the lowest I was offered was around 80,000CHF with a payrise promise post-probation but it was a small firm not one of the large Pharmas. I suspect they simply couldn't afford to pay a lot more than that. I have a similar background to you and I think 70,000 is too low.

HTH,

Janey
