Google Inc. plans to hire more than 6,200 workers this year

company's biggest expansion yet.

U.S. CEO Eric Schmidt said Tuesday that Google will hire more than 1,000 workers in Europe this year.

I am sure some of these will be with Google Switzerland.

When, what role, what does your CV look like?

I should really get around to writing a "How to write a CV" blog post.

I wouldn't go quite that far. :-) 5-10 years ago, working at Google would have been quite the CV-enhancer. Now that they're such a huge and seemingly directionless company, I'm not so sure it'd be a smart move to go there.

I also applied via the website, and also have heard nothing...

It was a few weeks ago now, towards the end of january, and for the "University programmes specialist" position. A 'how to write a CV' blog post would definitely be of interest to those of us who are newbies to this whole 'real world, proper job' thing (i.e. me)...

Or you google it and stumble across this from their own website:

I'm fairly certain that could do with a refresh.

Just in case some additional context is needed -- I work there, conducted 100+ interviews in the last 2 years, am a member of the hiring committee, and deliver interview training to engineers.

If anyone is thinking of applying then feel free to ask (sensible) questions here.

Why would anyone bother himself with applying to google given that here in CH there are plenty of Banks and Pharmas paying more and with just 2 rounds interview process?

Well Nik, not speaking for myself but there's a position my other half is interested in applying for.

I'd prefer not to put these details on a open forum (likely to increase the already crazy competition), could you send me a PM please for a quick chat?

err you're comparing apples with oranges there mate. There are jobs at google (or at the bank for that matter) that are completely unique to the other. Its like saying "why bother applying for a job at Scuba school when I can apply for one at sky diving inc and get more money"!

If you need to ask that, then you won't be applying.

Exactly, just wanted to know why are people so pushy about Google.
