Finance and IT job market

Hello J

Couple questions

How is the job market for Finance and IT in the German speaking part of Switzerland now?

In what field (IT or Finance) are more jobs?

Thank you…

Re: Finance and IT job market

The situation is not good in Switzerland at the moment. I would say IT is probably slightly better than finance, though I am not in these fields

Re: Finance and IT job market

Competition is pretty tight, its not how it was 4 years ago.

BUT the right people with the right skills and experience will find something..

Re: Finance and IT job market

Well, the two biggest employers UBS and CS are cutting jobs, offshoring and shrinking their businesses. So, there's little or nothing, at least, in Zurich. At this time, the IT in Finance job market looks better in depressing cities like Zug or Pfäffikon.

If you notice there is a new Basel law coming in following years.
That and the regulations about lowering the impact of banking in financial world you guess that in next 10 years the bank industry will suffer a cut.

Wait for 17 November and then we talk.

A week later, ready to talk? I have an idle interest in this thread - interest as I might be looking for a "new opportunity", and idle as I'm OK (touch wood) until Jan 2012...

BTW I did notice (and join) a few seemingly decent IT and Finance groups for Switzerland on linkedin.
