Language course - free ?

Im employed by a private family as housekeeper-cook, I was wondering if I would be able to go on a language course paid by my employers. Is this suposed to be available for everyone who works here.

I haven,t asked because I didn,t know if what I heard on here on other people threads was true. And applied to everybody. They have never mentioned it.

Re: Language course - free ?

If you were an au pair, then yes it should be part of your cultural exchange. However, you appear to be a domestic worker, not au pair.

But otherwise, some social agencies and groups in large cities offer free classes if you meet their criteria. Not sure if there is one in your area or not. Try your local communal authorities and see if they can offer some suggestions.

Re: Language course - free ?

In answer to the more general question as to whether everyone here gets free language courses paid by employers: NO they don't.

This is usually something you negotiate however there are numerous sources to look for free or affordable courses. Check your local gemeinde as a start
