Secondary activity in addition to day job

Dear all,
I have a 100% day job and resident B permit (guess not linked to employer). I am considering the possibility of holding a yoga class once a week (about an hour on saturday). Wonder if this is legally allowed here ?

Thanks !

Re: Secondary activity in addition to day job

This is the only thing I could dig up on the subject. Most other specific rulings which I found seem to apply to people working for the parish, in schools etc.

This is all in German, but Google Translate is your friend.

Basically is seems that as long as it is not taking place in your employer's time, is not for a 'competitor' of your employer, does not affect your ability to carry out your usual job (by making you too tired etc). then it is permitted.

Don't forget your tax forms and maybe a check on the need for extra insurance though, will you?

Longbyt has covered all the major points here. Maybe you should inform your present employer, they might be annoyed if they find out ( but they cannot forbid you if you are not tired and not working for the competitor).

Re: Secondary activity in addition to day job

As long as you make sure it's properly declared on your tax return there's no reason not to. There are some other ramifications, like when I'm working as a Ski Instructor I'm covered by the Ski School's insurance, but if I'm free skiing then my main employer's SUVA cover will apply. This could be more confusing, and I'd guess there would be some rules around it, if you were working about 50/50 for two employers.

Many thanks for your responses. Well I would definitely keep my present employer completely informed. Will also check out the insurance requirements. Thanks again !
