Yes, but going in unemployed, it may as well not be.

Amazing amount of resentment and misinformation going on in this thread... Sorry if you don't like it, but yes the Swiss do have a heritage law.

As such, though he's an idiot for going Schwartzarbeiter, he does have a right to be here and does have the right to claim support; however unfair you may find it.
I don't find it un fair, I do feel it's mooching. Would I have more of a right to say that if I held a Swiss passport as well?

No, I do not have a job and I think I cannot work without german, I have very little money, so if the gov. helps me getting a job (I doubt it without the language) or receive German classes to apply for jobs I would be grateful. The goal of this thing is work, believe it or not.
Wait, what happened to the au pair thing?

Indeed, when my wife moved in with me (before we got married), I just had to give a brief note to the commune stating that she was staying at my place.

Tom
I guess you & me live in a different country.

Did not work out, you mean Germany? That is an option but outside the country.

No. The family you were working for... Where are you staying now? I'm now very confused!

He is talking via carrier pigeon with the families in Germany.

He is in Switzerland, he can't call with his Swiss host family's phone because they might get "suspicious"-with silly notions he might've just used them as a plane ticket to here, whilst secretly plotting to get yet another family to take him on the first legs of his fancy free, Tour de Monde, I know, I know, such a from left field idea. So he is using the cellphone, wait a minute, he can't afford that either.

So hence the wonders of email, he is "talking." I suppose the new family get what they deserve if they are knowing scalping him from a family here.

Then again, they probably don't.

I mean if you have a Swiss passport, and you are in Switzerland, well one would assume he just lives there. And, probably has an excellent command of the original bit of this thread....No German, no work.

Sorry for the tangent.

What are you telling that new family anyways?

He should be obliged to carry a gps tracking system with him so we can better understand this conversation. AG canton, where he was at the beginning of this thread, as far as I can remember, being there last week, isn't in SW.

No offense, but I didn't see the joke in it. Some one asked you where you were now, and you said a location you weren't in...tell me the punch line?
