| | | Selection Committee
very strange... I've just received a message from our HR division inviting me to sit before the Selection Committee for a position I don't remember applying for.
In fact the job posting they reference does not exist either as an open position or in the last 6 months history.
So do I just dummy up ( I'm good at that ) and go before the review board ?, or send them a message asking which position am I being invited for ?
EDIT.... as I typed that I realized how ridiculous that sounds.. contacting HR that is.... I vote I just dummy up.
your comments?

Panic now.
You're probably going to be invited to re-apply for your current position and they're not letting you know about it.

Just go along for the ride, and better you wear a suit & tie. It's either selection for promotion or selection for the chop, or an early April Fool's joke (A good one though!).
Or they are taking your PC away as you post too often on EF.

From your description it sounds like you were on a succession planning list for a position that is or soon will be available, but not open to the general cattle call of open applications.
In my company this means you're being considered for a position to an upper management level position.
Congrats on being recognized for what you've accomplished and good luck.

thanks all....
upper management?... not likely
current position? .. the way this place works that is quite possible, but as a permanent employee rather than my current status of 9 years as a temp.
if you are really bored I refer you to this
(just as further definition there are about 200 of us here as "long term-short term'ers" )

I don't get the "just play along" responses. Why not call HR and ask? Easy, then the wondering is done.
