No, I didnt find yet anything.

Amnesty people suggested joining mailing group and going to their gatherings, which is not what i am looking for.. Would like to find something that is hands-on type of thing, not putting things into envelope..

Will be searching until will find something.

Have you looked at www.benevol.ch ?

Charity/Voluntary work

http://www.zuerichfreiwillig.ch/

http://www.tauschenamfluss.ch/

http://www.blindenhundeschule.ch/en/...employees.html

http://www.zoo.ch/xml_1/internet/de/...d1608/f307.cfm

http://www.tierrettung.ch/

http://www.tierambulanz-verein.ch/Gassigehen.htm

http://www.tierheim-surber.ch/

Asylum shelters, old folks homes and some Museums would also appreciate helping hands as would local Verein ( clubs / associations ).

Re: Charitable activities for english speaking?

I'd be happy to find something too. I've contacted no less than ten organizations over the past couple of years since I've been here. None would accept an English-speaking only volunteer. :/

Re: Charitable activities for english speaking?

I think many have been in that same boat before. Opportunities became more realistic when:

a) I undertook German at A1 ( very basic level )
b) I said I wanted to improve my spoken German
c) I was flexible ( had time then ) and wanted some social interaction
d) Could offer some skills ( IT, book keeping etc. )
e) Went to the cashless exchange bourse ( Tauschen am Fluss mentioned above ) and gave IT tips in exchange for German conversation and access to some networking

Re: Charitable activities for english speaking?

How about getting together and organize our own charity? I've been trying to plan some fundraising events for a children's home in Central America, and am sure it'll be much easier if more people are involved... What do you think? I have tons of ideas for events let me know via inbox and let's get busy!
