Hi just wondering if anyone works in this field as I am looking for position in Switzerland.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I live in the watch making area and my dad was a watch-maker. What sort of training and experience have you got? Some companies offer on the job training- or there are some watch making private schools here and one state one in Le Locle- sadly the other state ones closed in the 70s.

I presume that you did your training at Birmingham - if you can state your skills it would help.

Re: Does anyone work in the field of Horology in watches or clocks?

Hi
Yes I did my training in Birmingham and have a HND in horology and several parts of the BHI. I specialised in clocks but also have experience of watches.
I am looking for an entry position which is always were you start.
Most jobs advertised are in French and I don't know if a Diploma from UK is considered as they generally want WOSTEP which at 18 k a year and 10 places in the UK out of reach for most.
I have lived in Switzerland before and would love to come back. There has to be a position somewhere !
I may just come over and do the rounds!

Have a look at www.jobup.ch which has a watchmaking section. Although companies want the WOSTEP certification, in reality if you can do a bench test and prove you can either do assembly or servicing on 7750 or 2836 calibres the chances are that you will be employed.
Firms are desperate for watchmakers but no so much in clocks.
Send your CV off and see what happens!
Good Luck.

If you decide to come in the Neuchatel area on a reckie, do get in touch. Could do B&B and help with the search perhaps.
