What are my chances of finding suitable work ?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this sort of message but it's worth a try.

I am a student who has September until February off university looking for a job in Basel. I am willing to do most things and have experience in Bars, Restaurants, Sports Centres and Administration.

I am currently at Oxford University studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

I would like to be in Basel to learn German and because I have friends there. Unfortunately the only language I speak is English, although I could probably take orders in French.

If anyone knows of any work that I could do - from manual labour to au pairing or even assisting in office work, I am willing and able, responsible and communicative.

Thanks,
Fred

Dear Freddie, From my experience it is pretty impossible if you don't speak German unless you can get an internship with an english speaking company e.g. Pharmaceuticals. Good luck!

You might be able to get a job as an au pair. Free accomodation but the pay is minimal. The other options you mentioned seem unlikely without having a minimum of intermediate German/french.

Two Word: Male Whore.....

This could be the beginning of an illustrious career! Give it a shot. You dont need German if you speak the common-language of love

EVERYONE in the world thinks Switzerland must be a wonderful place. There are no vacancies here.

You might find a job in Saint-Louis, but without good French you have no chance.
