Farm Labourer Wages

Hi

Can you help?

What do farm labourers make usually? I'm talking about just helping out around the farm and not an experienced person really except with horses. I heard labourers come to work in the summer as volunteers or for low wages from other countries but is it better in the winter when its less romantic?

Also if you can give me heads up on what's the best way to find this work.. call into Farms or go through agencies. I don't speak German, a little French but I guess if I'm willing to learn a bit I'd get by. I've a B permit.

Many thanks for any help.

Re: Farm Labourer Wages

Hard work, low wage: 52h/week CHF 3600/month gross (Source) There are more jobs in the summer and harvesting season, cherries have to be picked, apples collected, etc.

You may start your luck with SchweizerBauer Newspaper Classified Ads.

This is for even 10-12hrs workday as traveling to and from the field and whatever else is deducted from the working hours, the hourly rate is about 18,-

I've heard that sometimes they just get paid in cheese, good company and good conversation
