I might get an offer for a job in Geneva. The company asked me to send them my salary expectations and I'm quite lost as to what I should ask for. I have developed business applications for around 14 years, also know a lot about databases, having worked with SQL Server for about 9 years. I'm thinking if they're considering me it's b/c it's been very hard for them to find qualified candidates in Europe. I'm thinking I should go high just in case and come down if they object, but at the same time I don't know to much about the culture and I don't want to lose the job because I tried to go to high and that's viewed very negatively in Switzerland.

Also, should I include any relocation costs into the salary or should I treat that separately? How about finding an apartment, should the company handle that? I'm currently in the United States.

I'm not a dba, just a very experienced programmer that creates business applications mainly using SQL Server as the backend.

So what would you think would be a reasonable salary to ask for in Geneva?
