Re: IT jobs at Nestle

I know of two people who work/worked for Nestle. Made lots of money, and never ran out of hot chocolate!

Seriously though, they said it was just as anyone would expect to work for a large company, you are a number and easily replaced. Do your work, well and you are still that same number. Do a poor job and you will find yourself replaced within your trial time.
But this is only 2 people out of XXXX??? how many?

Good luck getting in without some help from someone on the inside.

Having worked for a large US corporate for nearly 10 years I know all about the numbers game. It can be vicious and it's not suitable for everyone.

You always have to make yourself valuable and know / influence the right people and do an outstanding job. Then you get the rewards.

Some people just want to do a job and go home at the end of it and enjoy there lives. Others want the influence / power / Money. Some just live to work.

Re: IT jobs at Nestle

My gf works for Nestle/,

Big company is where politics is dense at every corner. Bullshit, ass-kissing, trying to make a good public image at any price is unavoidable.

But this is where you can learn alot on those "skils of the evils". And this experience of yours will make you remarkable in your next jobs.

Btw, what kind of IT does Nestle/ Vevey want ?

- Quantitative developer?
- Human resource management system developer ?
.... ?

Its a very good company to work for providing that you have a thick skin and know how to play the game.. As a previous EFer said a lot of politics. However this is to be found in all of the big companies.

Re: IT jobs at Nestle

i work for Nestle IT at the moment. It isn't a bad company to work for and I don't think you have to be unkind or evil as has been mentioned. As was posted previously and with any company, if your rubbish you will probably be released but if you work well and know your stuff you will do fine.

Having worked in a large corporate for nearly 10 years. I can say I'm used to the politics. It's always who you know and not what you know that matters. No matter what the HR brochure / policies say

Re: IT jobs at Nestle

Well it's been a while since I updated this thread.

Current situation.

I applied for three different positions at Nestle back in Jan/Feb and March of this year.

One job disappeared completely with no explanation
One I guess my CV got lost in the pile
The third was applied for on the Nestle site. This one I was interviewed for. First on the phone, then in person by the hiring manager and second separate interview with HR / senior IT manager.

Ok I didn't get the job, due to their quote not mine, not having the technical skills they wanted for the specific position. However in the interview with the hiring manager we discussed technical skills not on the job description.

So now there are two new positions I have applied for. At least I'm told there are at least two positions or even more. Both are in the Windows client deployment , Systems management areas. I have several years experience in this area. I'm looking for some insider advice / support with my applications. As these days it's a lot of who you know and not what you know.

Any advice extremely appreciated.
