My American company wants me to work for them as a sales consultant for the European market looking primarily at Germany, which I have done for them in the past as an employee.They now want me to be self employed.

I (unmarried UK national) currently without a permit am now in CH with my UK partner and our three kids who are on L permits and our long term view is to stay in CH and hopefully eventually have the C permit and settle here. Being part of the Swiss social system ie Pension would be good.

As far as I can see there are two ways I can go:-

1: Set up here as a Swiss sole trader and go down the B permit route.
2: Set up a UK Ltd company, employ myself and base myself out of CH.
Use the double tax and social agreement between the UK and CH and pay tax here, expense the rent etc on the company.

Not being an accountant can someone tell me whether there would be a distinct advantage of either going down route 1 or 2 or any other options.

Any comments appreciated.

long-term you don't want the UK company in my opinion. The Swiss taxman will be very interested in you, I'd say. Possibly also the UK taxman...!

Just wondering if you had any replies to your post, or whether you have found any other information regarding the pros and cons of Swiss v. UK business?

I don’t have either at the moment, but want to set up a Greetings Cards Design and Distribution company and THINK I want to base it in the UK but work from ZH.
