Architecture computer programs

Just wandering if anyone knows what computer programs most architect firms are using here in Switzerland.
I am considering an attempt to find employment as an architectural draftsperson here but feel my previous Mac based experience might not be compatible.

Re: Architecture computer programs

Google Sketchup is available on Mac OS X. It may not be quite the high-end software used by agencies but it is very popular among architecture students. http://www.sketchup.com/

Re: Architecture computer programs

most of them use Archicad and Autocad! what versions I don't know but I can find out as I don't use them, but deal with architects who do everyday. Let me know if you want to know more details of their versions etc.

I suppose I was worried that architects here wouldn't use archicad - I think that even in Australia still only 30% use Archicad -which really is a great program. Most still use autocad and the likes. I think this was primarily to do with compatibility with windows and communicating with engineers who nearly always used windows based programs. But i do believe things are now changing since mac's seem to be more accessible to the broader public and are now capable of running windows.
With regards to versions - I think almost every year there is a new version so I am not so concerned. Thanks for your help

Re: Architecture computer programs

You can use both Archicad and SketchUp on either Macs or PC's, though it is funny to watch a dedicated Mac user try to do Archicad on a PC
