Salaries for computer security

Hello

I have a BA in computer science and a M.Sc in information security. I work as a vulnerability researcher and a penetration tester for several years.
What are the salaries like for a similar position in Switzerland (I'm interested in Zurich area)?

Re: Salaries for computer security

Hello

Thank you for your reply. Does this sum include the 13th salary as well or just 12? I have heard that many companies in Switzerland include an addition salary when they make the offer.

Re: Salaries for computer security

It's a yearly amount. So divide by 12 or divide by 13.

CISSP doesn't matter squat for a pentester. CEH is more useful.

How many zero day flaws you've found and how is even more useful.

Re: Salaries for computer security

Regarding salary, the role is probably too specific to give a precise answer. But if you are good, you can expect to be paid well.

On that note, if you have CVE numbers in your list of publications, feel free to PM me a copy of your CV.

I did. I would not hire a pentester with just a CISSP.

What would I know, though? Bar being in security, having a CISSP and being able to pentest applications?

Re: Salaries for computer security

Hello
Thank you all for your helpful answers. I would appreciate if you could just stop arguing with each other and be more helpful/direct to the question.

To clear out the vibe a little bit, and this is just my opinion so feel free to disagree with me.

After being in this business for some years now, I have come to realize that certificates mean nothing. I do posses CEH myself (to be honest I am ashamed to mention it), but I would never hire a pen-tester just because he has that cert because in my opinion it's useless.
CISSP might be one of top valued certs in security, again means nothing when it comes to pen-testing.

How many 0days have I found:
Who would you hire sir, one who has found 40 0days in useless apps, or one who has found 1 in Chrome/Windows? Is not about the number!

With respect, how they hell can we answer such a question without a detailed CV? Ballpark figure could be anywhere between 100K - 150K depending on the company etc.

Regarding your opinion of certs, you might want to re-think your answers because Swiss companies love them.

So you've found 41? You might not think it's important but some do. And it's what pentest companies are quick to share in order to 'differentiate'.

Hence the questioning.

And I agree CEH is more about me trusting you than your abilities
