Re: Getting a job in Switzerland after period at ETH

Did you apply for internships over the summer? I think our office has more or less filled its spots, but it might still be possible somewhere, and it can be a very good way to get started in tech.

Google has several product areas in Zurich which do machine learning. But of course we have even more in the Bay area, and there are a lot of other companies there. South Bay probably is the place to be if you are serious about going far in the tech industry. (Personally, I like to ski too much, and hate strip malls to much, to move there.)

Also, be aware that US Visas have been a bit hard to get recently. In fact, we seem to have a fair number of people who came to work in Zurich for a year while waiting for a US visa. Some of them do decide to stay in Zurich. So it isn't just silicon valley that sucks people in.

Re: Getting a job in Switzerland after period at ETH

I won't be able to apply for internships in summer, as I will have to work at my university.. I will be allowed to go abroad only during this 6-month period.. Also m, my supervisor wants me to go in a place where they'll let me publish the results of my research activity..

It isn't unheard of for peope at Google to publish, and I do know people who did PhD work at Google Zurich. However, you do have to find the right group and otherwise plan ahead to do something that you can release.

Fair point. But there's always a way with visas at the end
Hope you're doing well!
