Unemployment Overlord

Interesting development in my relationship with the RAV... it appears that there is someone "above" my RAV advisor who is in charge of me and decided that I was to be sent on a beginners German course despite holding my A2 certificate...
My RAV is in Lachen, but the Overlord sits in Schwyz, has never met me or spoken to me, however it was the same person who made judgement on allowing me 4 months to launch my own business and hence I've exchanged emails with her a couple of times.
So all of you (like me) that thought you were being stitched up by your RAV advisor might not be totally correct...
I now have a new focus for my hatred (and also my emails begging to be allowed to skip beginners German classes)...
Will let you know how I get on!!

Why don't you compromise with them and ask to be put on a B1 German course instead? On the basis that the A1 course would waste their money but the B1 course might get you a job.

Re: Unemployment Overlord

Have done exactly that... but I've read elsewhere on here that RAV never pay for anything above A2...
We'll she what she says... appealed on behalf of my sanity!

Re: Unemployment Overlord

RAV definitely will pay for a B1 level course-I was supposed to start one during my unemployment time, through the Migros Klubschule. I didn't even have an A2 certificate, but was placed into B1 based on a test given by RAV.

It's possible this is canton dependent. I know unemployment in Vaud used to pay up to C1 but that was not the case in other cantons.

I do find it a bit mean to only pay up to A2. Your not going to up your chances to find work with A2 level. Minimum B2, IMO.
