Change Chomage Advisor

Hello

I've been enlisted in chomage a couple of months, and I'm constantly pressured by my advisor to move to another country.

Also I am receiving constant pressure to go on courses which a) have no relation to my previous experience or b) have also no relation to the new career path I am already paying for my own training to convert to.

I already demonstrated I can become up and running in my new career in a couple of months, come off the chomage, and just need help for one course, but they refused.I heard of other peoples advisors who let them take the courses they desired.

Obviously its causing me a lot of stress to manage my cost of living, apply for jobs, retrain myself, being threatened to be sent to another country and be sent on courses I am not interested in.

Does anyone have any help/ ideas on dealing with this, or know if its possible to change advisor?

Thank you

Re: Change Chomage Advisor

RAV advisers have to work within the Swiss laws, not rules, there are laws about the way procedures have to be followed. The RAV advisers have to keep to the laws and in any dispute the final decisions are made by the legal department at the unemployment fund you are registered with.

Not many people get their own way, & almost always the RAV have the final say. They pay the money, they make you follow their decisions.

My advice is to follow their advice. Sooner or later you will get a new RAV adviser who might try another way.

The RAV does not pay the money, it's the insurance fund of the OP's choice that pays the money.

Advisors generally change once a year.

Yes, agreed, it was a colloquial response. Is that better now?

Re: Change Chomage Advisor

My RAV adviser spent the first meeting threatening me in German, the second he suddenly spoke English and spent the meeting telling me about his 5 week summer vacation in Florida....
The third meeting he pushed me really hard to take the self-employment route (as this would free me from his restrictions for 4 months, and also clearly mean he had less work to do).
I did this, (be warned it's a trap.... will post another topic about it), and then returned to the RAV at the end of it, to be told by him that since 7 months were up, I would now be transferred to a new adviser and Goodbye. Oh and by the way, you are off on a beginners German course. Door slam.

So to be honest, OP, make your own way, expect nothing from them of help, but try and do what they say if possible as in the end they tend to win.

Good luck getting back on your feet! Lots of people on here know what you are going thru and it's not a pleasant time but sounds like you know what your plan is so go for it.

Assuming Sbrinz comment about the legal department is correct then does it realy matter where the money comes from if the legal department has the final say?
