best way to find summer jobs?

I heard there is a thing called summer jobs (don't ask why, or how come just now?) that last till september ... and I would like to get one asap. as far as I know, anibis.ch, petitsanounces.ch are a good way to look for work, additionally I will be carrying my cv and go door to door in montreux (where I live) to ask for any kind job ( except a hand job )

so, I just want to ask for additional ways to maximize my chances.
if anyone knows anything, either a job, or on how to look for better ways let me know.

thanks,

Re: best way to find summer jobs?

I had friends in high school that worked at coop/migros in the summer as cashier and stocking the shelves, but yeah that's only for very young people i think.
Other jobs I always hear is ice cream seller, helping in restaurants, night custodian in small hotels, etc. those are not publicized online i think.

Re: best way to find summer jobs?

Sadly the usual jobs require qualifications, and the lesser jobs are filled by eastern Europeans, organised by "gang masters".

Maybe your local farmer would know of some temporary work available.

Your aproach is as good as is possible, look at the local papers/websites, knock on restaurant doors etc.

thanks,
Best way is to register with any agency you can find, usually they will have summer jobs advertised when they are available, or some sort of form you can fill out to show your interest.

Also check your local Swiss Post bulletin board, you may find an advert for newspaper delivery as people like to book holidays. Wife has an offer for 2 different periods in the next 6 months as we have covered for someone on our local tour 3 times in the last year. You may also find other stuff advertised too.

Re: best way to find summer jobs?

Gardeners and landscape gardeners take on lots of temporary staff during the summer.

Yes, I am very interested in this, sadly my googling skills seem to have failed me to get anything concret. Can you provide me more info about how and where to apply.

Re: best way to find summer jobs?

In 2012, the "AI" (that's the Disability Office) introduced a new benefit, called "Assistance". You can read about it (in French) here:
https://www.ahv-iv.ch/p/4.14.f

It is for people with a disability, who live at home, to enable them to pay for household help. That could include cleaning, shopping, cooking, or escorting the person on an outing, and many other tasks.

I'd suggest you ask at "pro infirmis" if there is any kind of self-help group, perhaps an online notice-board, for people who are looking for assistants.

Re: best way to find summer jobs?

Public swimming pools hire a cashier for summer, try your local one?

Every year I see an advert outside Volg for a cashier for our local pool.
