Taking unpaid vacation while unemployed

Dear all,

I would like to take some extra vacations days while unemployed (aside form the official 20 days per year), I talked to my RAV contact and she said that:

1. There is a limit of days that I can take as unpaid vacation.
2. I have to look for jobs everyday while on unpaid vacation and be available for phone calls.
3. At my return, depending on my job search, I would probably receive a penalization of about half the time I was away, but it could be much larger depending on her opinion.

I thought these requirements were severe, so I went to my unemployment fund and they told me a bit different story:

1. There is no limit on the days that I can take off as a unpaid vacation
2. It is not mandatory to look for jobs, this requirement is at discretion of the RAV person
3. Also any penalization is at sole discretion of the RAV person, not mandatory

Would anyone have any experience in this context? number of days that can be taken as non-paid vacation and if you guys had to look for jobs during that time and/or where penalized.

How would be the best way to proceed?
Shall I have an open discussion with the RAV officer about her strict requirements?

(So far I have done everything correctly and I even looked for jobs during 2 months that I was 100% sick and didn't have to)

Thank you in advance for your help!

Re: Taking unpaid vacation while unemployed

The RAV are there to control, coordinate and motivate, but the Kasse, unemployment fund, have to administer the laws,
regarding your situation reported by the RAV.

It is unfortunate that your adviser is ignorant, para 12 might be relevant to you,

Yes, I would try again to convince your adviser that you simply want unpaid, uncontrolled leave.
