contributions for AHV/IV/EO

I was presented with a contract containing the following:

"The contributions for AHV/IV/EO (statutory social security), ALV (compulsory unemployment insurance), any pension funds and withholding tax (if applicable) payable by the Employee under Swiss law shall be deducted from the gross Base Salary, Annual Bonus Payments or Project Bonus Payments made to the Employee under this Agreement."

Is this normal procedure - I was sunder the impression employers picked up some of these.

Re: contributions for AHV/IV/EO

As the sentence states "payable by the employee" this is exactly what it is. The employee pays certain portion and employer pays another portion. For AHV/IV it is 50:50, for the pension fund it depends on the pension plan.
So yes, it is correct

Re: contributions for AHV/IV/EO

Employer only pays for your accidental insurance - which is something like 20 CHF p.m. for 35 year old. Good news is that, you'll get it back, or get it transferred to your home country's fund, if/when you leave Switzerland. If you search for "AHV leaving switzerland" or "AHV refund" you'll get more info on this.

Re: contributions for AHV/IV/EO

AHV refund or transfer is only for countries where Switzerland had a social security agreement. For rest, they return contributions based on a formula linked to years of contribution and age of the employee...in most cases, the refund is ~8-10% of the original contribution
