Reduced unemployment benefit because of sickness

Hello all. I can't find any exact information on this even on the ORP/RAV sites. So I'm hoping somebody can help me. After 4 years working full time I have just been fired from my job. I have only recently returned to full time work after being off sick with stress. In 2014, I had 3 months paid by the company and then 4 months paid by the company's insurance, I then returned in November at 50% up until May when I returned to 100%. Now a person in HR tells me that I will receive a lot less unemployment benefit money than I expected as my contributions were substantially reduced during the sick period. Is this true? Again I've searched through the relevant sites but cannot see anything to ease my worry. Anybody else had a similar concern? Any help appreciated, cheers.

No, this is not true.

You returning on a 50% job is what matters.

The payout from the insurance is based on the gross income; with illness "Lohnfortzahlung" effectively results in a stable gross income.

Would it be possible to ask that person in HR? You could tell him/her that you are very worried about how the unemployment benefit money works, and then ask him/her to give you the names and numbers of the documents/rules/laws which he/she knows explain it.

Ask him/her to give you a print-out of how your income was put together for every single month or week in which you were completely or partly off work because of being ill. Ask him/her to show you, or to mark on each month's page, on which part of your income HR based the contributions that they paid into the unemployment fund on your behalf.

If, indeed, HR really did pay in more contributions in some months and less in others, then ask for a copy of the rules or the law which sets out that they must do it this way.
