Unemployment benefit for non-swiss returning to CH

Hi All......it has been a while.

I left Switzerland almost 2 years ago and moved to Canada with my spouse. Things did not plan out as expected so I am looking at my options.

Staying in Canada, move to Denmark (I am Danish) or move to Switzerland again.

Prior to leaving I had been in Switzerland for 4 years and 4 month and I was working for the whole period.

The question is: Am I entitled to unemployment benefit if I move back to Switzerland?

I know the following applies for a Swiss citizen but I cannot find anything that mention folks like myself.

If you were employed in a non-member state of the EU/EFTA, you
will be covered by unemployment insurance in Switzerland after your return.

The conditions are as follows:
  • You must have lived abroad for more than one year
  • You must have been gainfully employed for at least 12 months during the past two years
  • You have to present confirmation from the employer of the duration of your employment
  • You have to claim entitlement within one year after your return or entry into Switzerland

Thanks

No as any rahemnfrist would now be over if you opened one 2 years ago.
Entitlement is based on a min of 12 months contributions in last 24 months. Insured salary based on last 6 months earnings which would be 0 in any case.

Re: Unemployment benefit for non-swiss returning to CH

Short answer is no, unless Canada has some sort of reciprocal agreement with Switzerland on unemployment pay. You haven't been employed in Switzerland/EU/EFTA area for 2 years so don't qualify.

FMF beat me to it.

Nope just went through the same thing. Luckily found a job quick enough.

My wife is Swiss and even she could not get it. (Money no, help finding a job yes)
