Just weekdays unless you normally work Saturday or Sunday.

Re: Holidays with or without weekends?

This is probably weekdays and official public holidays - 35 is very high for Switzerland if it's real flexible holiday days and you get public holidays on top.

But not weekends, unless of course you contractually work them.

(So two weeks off @ 14 or 16 days = 10 days of holiday to be taken)

Re: Holidays with or without weekends?

a day of holiday is always counted only on working days.

for regular employees, this is Mon-Fri with the exception of public holidays.

if you have a job where you generally work in weekends, then weekends can count too.

it shouldn't count though that you need to take 7 days of for a week holiday. Would require a very special type of working environment.

Perhaps they are counting public holidays in the total?

Err, no, why do you think that? It's exactly the opposite to what everybody said.

"Normal" but not universal. I started on 25 days, which is standard within our company. Now I'm older it's gone up to 30 days, which is nice.

Sorry, I have to explain..

So this is about my boyfriend and he just start to work in a hotel.
In two months of work he just worked 2saturdays.
When we saw 35 days of holidays we thought that weekends may not be included, but now he asked to the company and they confirm that 35 days of holidays include weekends...
I am quite sure that is not a rule, but in his case is like that....

Re: Holidays with or without weekends?

There are several rules which apply to time off.

20 days minimum vacation

Entitlement to two weeks off as a contiguous block.

Plus rules about the number of hours and days that can be worked consecutively, and how long the minimum break is between these periods.

35 days when including weekends is five weeks, which is fairly typical although for non-weekend workers normally given as 25 days.

So 1 weeks holiday is 9 days then.

So 1 weeks holiday is 9 days then.
At least 9.5 days: Friday 1800-Monday 0600 or in terms of work productivity 10 days: Friday 1200-Monday 1200

But for the allowance - maybe, unless it includes a scheduled day off? or a public holiday? or some other rule in the contract...

OP really needs to read the contract and holiday policy in detail, I think here we can only say it sounds about right with a load of caveats.
