Job searching help for L Permit holders

Does anyone know what assistance is available for someone holding an L permit?

We've been here for almost 7 months now and the girlfriend still hasn't had any luck finding work.

I'm here on a B permit through my work but she only got an L permit which she's recently had to renew.

We're based in Basel if that helps?

Re: Job searching help for L Permit holders

In terms of a bit more information about what she's looking for:

She graduated last year with a degree in Business and Management from Manchester Uni, before that she's got 4 years experience working in Quality Assurance also in the UK.

She's originally Polish but has spent 10 years in the UK, she speaks fluent English, Polish and Russian and has just completed the German level A2 with Migros Klunschule.

She's after an Admin or reception style job, so far she's been looking through the online job boards and has given her CV to a few recruitment services without much response, she's also joined the PWG who have been great for helping her with her CV.

Doesn't the L permit only last for one year? Is it renewable, wirhout a contract?

Her L-Permit lasted 6 months and after it expired she was asked to prove that she was looking for work before they gave her a new permit.

There is no help available, why should there be? She came here seeking work and can't find it so the Swiss expect her to go elsewhere.

Unfortunately that means I should also go elsewhere which the Swiss company that paid for me to be here might disagree with.

If you get married you can earn enough to support both of you...

No, that means

a) your girlfriend should only be here as a visitor for up to 3 months at a time if her L permit doesn't get extended

b) you apply for a concubine's permit for her in which case you'll have to be financially responsible for her for 5 years, even if the relationship breaks down, and said permit may not include work rights for her

c) as swisspea says marry her and then she gets a B permit same as yours.

That's the only "assistance" that is available to her.

What I meant was that if she's not able to stay over here then I'm not going to stay here without her.

Back to the original post, we're not really worried about permits and stuff, what we could really do with is help finding her some work.

Re: Job searching help for L Permit holders

I would worry about permits though as she might end up staying here illegally? And I somehow would think that the Swiss authorities frown upon that.

Good luck with the job search, it is not easy nowadays.
