Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

Hi.

I would like to leave for a Geneva and i thought about being a stocker in Migros/Coop/Lidl or any other shop. But there is a little problem that i dont speak French.I also heard that there is no stocker jobs only but if i work in a shop i have to be a not only stocker but also a cashier if needed.
Is there a chance of employment in shop in geneva as a stocker if i dont speak french?
Another issue are wages. How much does the people earns in shops in Geneva?

Re: Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

If you don't speek french, your chances for a job in geneve are pretty slim.
Stocker jobs (if they offer them), operate normally in the morning or evening, could be in the range of 10-20 % of a fulltime job.
If you don't have an unlimited contract (fulltime), your chanches for a permit B are pretty slim aswell.
Most stocker jobs in geneve will be done by french permit G (who will travel back an forth the same dame) Holders, so they don't have to pay the expensive
rents in geneve.
Good luck with your plan .

Re: Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

What I would do is ask Migros or COOP instead of a bunch of expats?

Re: Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

Thats my plan to go to the Geneva and hang around from shop to shop and asking the supervisors are they looking for a workers or posting CV or anything
Do you think 5000chf would be enough for a living in Geneva or somewhere in France(cross-border worker) till i would get my first salary?

Re: Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

If you don't have an unlimited contract, you don't get a permit(B or L).
Switzerland is not part of the EU, you don't speek the local lingo (french), so you won't be able to communicate with co-workers or clients.
You can hang around on a jobseeker permit(3 Months max), but your money will not last long (accomodation, food, petrol).
Currently it is summer time(here in basel a lot of shops closed for holiday), there is not much going on (jobmarket), september would be a better idea.
Learn the local lingo (if you need to make it to geneve), french is not easy to learn(so many exemptions), apply from your country and maybe you got a slim chance.

Re: Stocker Jobs in Geneva.

Chf 5k, should be ok for 2, maybe 3 months, but yoiu will not find a job.

As a stacker you need to communicate with your fellow workers and supervisors and you cannot as the common language is French.

Lower down the food chain, the more important the local language becomes

Without the local language ........NO

Plenty of other people (read French people) willing to work for same pay and guess what...........They actually speak French and can therefore communicate with their fellow workers.

Which bit you got problem with ?
