As you are entitled to money, social services may advance you some of your money until your unemployment money arrives.
Arbeitslosenkassen themselves can also advance money, as long as it is clear that there is going to be a financial entitlement of some kind.
They simply deduct the advanced money from the appropriate monthly payment when that comes.

Life taught me this as a child.. how did you manage to get to adulthood?
I managed to get to adulthood because I never really felt comfortable asking for help.. so despite the fact that a few tragedies happened to me as a child, including all kinds of abuse, I never asked for help. Even my mom only came to know many things that happened to me years later. And as she says, I can be dying that I won't ask anyone for help.. she's my mom, she knows me well.

I evolved with time however, and I learned to ask for help. If you learned this lessons earlier than good for you. I had other lessons to learn. We all lead different lives

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

Guys, I have another question about the RAV... it's a different issue but I thought I'd ask it here instead of opening another thread.

I've been looking for jobs and I received a positive answer to work in a hotel in Zurich (well at least they want me to go for a trial day), but the thing is that I won't be working at 100%. They told it's a part-time and I'd be working from 50% to 80%. They told me how much they would pay me per hour and I didn't make the sum yet because I'm not sure how many hours I'd be working but my question is... my allowance is about 2500 francs, if I receive for example 2000 francs in this job, will the RAV pay me the other 500?
Or will I loose the right to receive an allowance at all? I don't want to receive less than what I already do because let's be honest, it's not a fortune and I'm living alone and I have to pay everything by myself, I don't have the luxury of working in part-time... but at the same time I'm not sure I can say no.

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

They will subtract the 2000 from your insured salary and give you 70% of the difference...so you will actually be better off.

Congratulations!

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you just said
So they pay me 2500 francs every month... if I gain 2000 francs in the hotel, they will give me 70% of how much exactly?

And thanks

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

Using your numbers, 2500 means an insured salary of 3570.

So, 70% of 3570-2000 = 1100

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

So how are you getting on Jessi? Did you get your payment? What was required to get it? Did you start your new job?

The suspense is killing me!

Hi there!! I'm so sorry that I didn't answer before... I've been with sooo many things in my head right now and I'm not using the forum so much.

So anyway.. yeah I got my payment only on August 18 and then I had lots of problems with the month of August as well because they got a lot of stuff wrong and some people would tell me to do this and other people would tell me to do that... there was a lack of comunication between them and I only received the money from August today x)

But anyway... I didn't get the job but that's ok, I'm going back to my home country now

Hi Jessi, wish you a safe journey home. Thank you so much for the present and money you returned. Glad I could be of help during a tough time and wish you all the very best for the future.

Great! Did you manage to transfer your RAV to home for 3 months though?

Be aware if you earn 70% (no kids) you don't get a top up, earn 69.9% & you get a top up of 70% of 30.1%.

Doing 30 minutes overtime could cost you a lot of money

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

I think fatmanfilms means the following:

Let's say you previously made 1000 per month.
if you make 699 you get 70% of 30.1% of the difference so 217.
If you now make 701 you seem to get nothing.

I'm not sure of the accuracy of fatmanfilms' assertions but I think that's the principle he is referring to for your 3 month period abroad/back home.

I just saw this thread today for the first time as an ex-neighbour, I'm glad Oldhand was able to help, and you are back home.

For future reference, new and existing migrants needing help can check out www.migrationsrat-wallisellen.ch and they will try to help.
