RAV Oerlikon - help!

Hey there

So I've been having some "problems" with the RAV and I just thought I could maybe ask for help here..

I just moved to Zurich like a month ago and as I was in a different canton I needed to do the registration again... but I had a lot of problems with the contract I signed to rent my room and etc... I would explain everything but I've been dealing with all this crap for a month now, 24/7 , and I'm exhausted!!

My main problem right now is that my allowance is really late!! I was only able do the registration last tuesday and I thought it would be ok after that... but it's been almost a week and they won't pay me the month of July... and I am way behind on my bills and to be completely honest I spent so much money moving to this canton that I don't even have money to eat right now. I've been having this problem for some time but untill now I had one or two people helping me. But I cannot ask them for money anymore and I'm not even eating anything for about a week or so. Also I need to search for a new room and I can't even pay the train to visit new places.

So anyway, this is driving me crazy, I don't know how I'm not depressed yet because I'm dealing with all this completely alone and I don't know what else to do. Also I'm so hungry that I can't even think straight!
Anyway... when I was living in Porrentruy they would never take a lot of time to pay me. I would've received the money by now.
Do any of you guys have any idea of how long they usually take here to pay us? Is it more than a week? Will I need to wait much longer just because I moved recently?

Also I'd like to ask if any of you guys would be willing to help me in the first meeting? For the registration I went with a friend of mine but then we did it all in english so I really don't understand this -.-'
But they told me I needed someone to help me with the translation at least in my first meeting, but my friend won't be in Switzerland for some time and I don't know anyone here so if someone here could help me that would be really nice!

Thanks to you all in advance, and I apologize for the outburst x)

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

There should not be any significant difference in the payment delay. I would have thought that they pay you here just as they did in the previous canton. I haven't been unemployed in my current canton as I probably do not currently qualify, so I can't compare it to my previous canton which was always quite prompt.

Thanks for your answer..
yeah I always thought it would be the same thing here or in the canton I was before... but maybe it takes more time because I had to do the registration a second time? I hope not, I just thought I'd have the money by now :/

It's really hard for me to be in this situation because I need to visit new rooms and I need to search for jobs and like this I just can't do much..
well anyway, I hope they pay me this week. Thanks again.

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

The payment doesn't depend on RAV it depends on your caisse de chomage. Who did you choose and when did you send your IPA?

When is your appointment? I will be in Oerlikon at 10.15 tomorrow morning and if you meet me at the train station I'll take you for a bag of shopping to tide you over for a while. P.M me your phone no.

I know the money doesn't come from the RAV, but as I had to do a second registration I don't know if the "caisse" needs to take more time than usual because of that. I don't know how to explain it better :/

I sent it about 7 or 8 days ago... I couldn't send it sooner and I know it's not that long ago but based on past experiences I know I could have the money already.

Hey
I don't know when the meeting is yet because I'm still waiting for them to tell me that. When I know when it is, if you're available, would you help me with that?

About the rest, thank you so much but I can't accept it..

I was with UNIA and they always had an English speaker who was happy to help with any questions. I'd phone and ask your caisse what's going on. If they can't help I'd phone or email your RAV advisor.

I had a long delay in a payment for a reason he or I didn't understand. He was quite active in helping out as he knew how much I needed the money.

I start work again next week but just mornings. You could look at the food as a loan until your money comes through, or pay it forward in the future when someone else is in a tight spot.

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

porsch1909 , I didn't call them yet because as I said I'm behind on my bills and I lost the service I have on my cell phone so I can't call anyone. I thought I'd have a phone in my new place because when I moved I was told I would pay 900 francs for a room and swisscom but apparently the only thing I have is wi-fi because I don't even have tv...
OMG, I could go on but I won't x)
Anyway, the thing is.. I can't call them... and I'm trying to avoid going there because it's in Oerlikon and I live in Wallisellen which is not far away at all but I'd have to go on the train and I don't have money for the tickets... so, yeah

Oldhand , I always help people as I can.. I send money to kids in India and everything. I'm used to help people in every way I can but I really hate when I need it myself... and then when I do I often realize that there's no one around but people like you that don't even know me or people that owe me nothing. Anyway, I guess that makes it really hard for me to accept it.
And as I said above, I live in Wallisellen, I really don't want to use the train without ticket because I really don't have money to pay fines. But again, thank you so much!! There are people that really should help me and people that actually owe me a lot of money and they don't even care, while you want to help some stranger... I think this is the kind of stuff that teaches us something

I was unemployed for a year with a wife and daughter to support. I know exactly where you're coming from and it's awful and not easy at all. The feeling of relief of waking up and checking my ebanking and it having some money in it

Perhaps an email? I found they were pretty quick at sending emails.

Good luck.

Well, I don't have a husband nor kids, but I'm completely alone trying to make my way in a foreign country... I have no family here, no friends, and I'm 21 years old. To be honest I don't really like to live here so much. It was always bearable because of the money... but now I'm in this situation and it kinda freaks me out because I'm completely alone and if I fall I have no one to pick me up, if you know what I mean...
So, checking my ebanking every morning and knowing that I don't have money for so long and he won't arrive it's just a terrible feeling. I've been in panic and I don't even have anyone to talk about this.
It's really hard for me. Back in my country I didn't have money but at least I had my family and my friends..

well anyway, I'm rambling x)

Yeah I already sent them an e-mail... I woke up this morning and I thought I could send them an e-mail, I don't know why I didn't think of it before x)
So I already did that, I hope they answer

Thank you! )

Re: RAV Oerlikon - help!

You have had an EXCEPTIONALLY GENEROUS offer of unconditional help from Oldhand that you decided to refuse for whatever reason.

What the difference is between you helping kids in India in a tough situation and Oldhand helping you when you are in a tough situation is beyond me.

You decided to move to Zurich when you were in a precarious situation may not have been the best thing to do, it is well known fact, moving costs money although maybe it couldn't have been avoided.

Whilst i comiserate with your predicament, my sympathy is limited as despite help being offered, you have refused such generosity from Oldhand.

I really cannot imagine there are many people as unselfish and generous as Oldhand, i suggest you get and contact her and maybe meet up.

So I sent them an e-mail today and they answered me now but I don't understand everything that they're saying... I tried to translate it but it's not clear. Can someone here help me with the translation?

This is the message:

"Guten Tag Frau [name removed]

Sounds like they are saying you need to apply to your old fund for the payment up to deregistration and then your new one will make up the difference

It says that your old fund pays your unemployment benefit up until the date you de registered from that commune/gemeinde.
As soon as you register at the new commune/gemeinde the new fund takes over the payment.
You need to contact your old fund regarding the outstanding payment.

Have you received your payments right up until your de registration date from you old fund in the Jura? It seems as though it's them that you should be contacting for the payment if they haven't paid you right up to that time.
Maybe you sent your most recent form to the new fund when actually you should have sent it to the old was as in fact it covers the time when you were still resident there.

Yes I sent the form to the new fund.. I mean, they sent it in the RAV. I was there in an interview and they told be I could fill the form there and they would send it for me so I trust them.. and now they're telling me I need to contact the old fund in Jura? My God!!! I'm living for almost a month with no money, this is just too much for me..

anyway.. thanks for thanks for enlightening me but now I have no idea what I'll say to the old fund in Jura as I already sent the form to Winterthur..
