Is there a market for English-speaking photographer?

Hi there,
I am a photographer in Australia and I am possibly moving to Basel with my swiss husband (back to his hometown).

I just wanted your opinion of whether you think there is a good market for english speaking photographers (I speak very little swiss-german/german/french). I was hoping to market myself to tourists and fashion bloggers/ young ladies for portraits (fashion inspired and family).

I also do commercial photography in Australia but probably won't pursue that immediately until my swiss-german is up to scratch.

I am used to collaborating with other young creatives (event stylists, bloggers, restaurants) to get my name out there but cant seem to find any creative ex-pat community.

Do you have any advice for me, or know of any groups which may be able to help?

Thanks!

Re: Is there a market for English-speaking photographer?

In Switzerland there is a Verband (association) for nearly every profession and occupation. Searching on "verband fotografie schweiz" shows this one:

http://www.sbf.ch/

You could consider contacting this association (and there might be others).

The Auslandschweizer-Organisation has a website page for returning Swiss searching for a job which lists numerous job boards:

Added:
There may be a market for English-speaking wedding and event photographers. English-speaking foreigners, e.g., Indians, Americans, sometimes travel to Switzerland for weddings, etc.

I am a photographer. I think you will find the prices and the market in general very different to what you have now. From what I am gathering from aussie photographer friends you'd have a big decrease in profits, unless you are doing poorly right now. Happy to answer anything via PM
