How much pay is appropriate?

I am a Swiss citizen, who relocated to the US 4 years ago to go back to school for a career change and to obtain a Bachelor's in Social Sciences. Now I am back in the Basel region looking for a 'regular' job to settle in first before I decide my next career move.
As I used to work pharmaceutical assistant jobs for 3 years before I left Switzerland, I am applying to similar positions now, but have no idea of how much I can ask for nowadays with my new degree, even though it is not in the same field. Info about me: female, 32, Swiss commercial education of 3 years, 10 years work experience (4 in logistics, 3 as assistant in sales), and a Bachelor now.
I just read that a regular graduate starting salary here is 82K ... Now I am asking myself, if I am selling myself too short as I would ask for only 75K ? Even though I am not starting to directly work in my social sciences field, but only in an assistant job and if they would even pay more just because I have an additional degree. Please help about what an appropriate salary would be in my position.

Thanks for your input!

Alright... so I just tried it with this link, with all my informations and it says that I should earn around 80K ... can this really be because it seems very high, plus again, does this apply to a Bachelor in which field I am not going to work in? In addition, I have to negotiate with the job agency which are always sneaky plus I do not want to miscalculate my chances with the agency for asking for way too much. Please help if someone can confirm this annual salary! Thanks in advance

Re: How much pay is appropriate?

Glass door is crap in Switzerland, Sbrinz' link is much better.

That said, you will be paid for the value that the employer thinks you will bring. It may be significantly more or less than the average, and truth be told, your degree barely fits into the picture. If you're able to demonstrate that the degree confers value to the role, then it matters; otherwise, it just helped you get to the interview by filtering out people that might not have had the smarts or ambition (or other less fair reasons) to go to uni.

Sell yourself and see what happens.

In addition to the Salarium wage calculator, the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions maintains this one:

Re: How much pay is appropriate?

Don't forget to use the "male" side of the scale on the salarium lohn rechner. No sense putting ourselves down before companies cut female offers down to where they think they should be.

There is also a salary book you can find in stores like Orell Füssli that describes the salary of lots of different jobs, but I forget the name. I think it is this one: http://www.awa.zh.ch/internet/volksw.../lohnbuch.html
