Thanks all but where did you got this information that you need to stay in your city or even inside country the whole time? Would anyone have a link to any written document that states that?
Just asking since have met few people who have been 100% convinced that this is not true.
From the RAV advisors. Its like the first thing they tell you when you're an expat. They know too well we all would just love to take a week back home "looking for work from there". Thats not how it works, you need to be available for work or whatever immediately - it makes sense.

Im sure this is stated in the fine print of the rule book they give you at the first visit, but I've never bothered to read it, I've just done whatever the RAV advisors tell me.

I have never heard what you mention and i know plenty of people thats been on RAV. Maybe they are confusing it with the export of benefits as mentioned above.

I've never heard about staying in the city. I was told I need for inform RAV before leaving the country and that if I didn't have holidays then my payment for that month would be reduced.

RAV isn't supposed to be easy or a holiday btw

Youre not going to be looking for sh*t while abroad for a few days, save those white lies for your RAV berater

Here is the deal:

- You have to be in the country to receive benefits.

- You can apply for vacation days to go abroad (in 5 day blocks, but they can make exceptions to that. Also, as always, it differs between RAV beraters, mine for example had zero issues with me taking 2-3 days vacation here and there.)

- Off course, you can gamble and go abroad without informing them. The odds of getting caught are very slim. Ive done a cheeky few days here and there off the books and so have my friends. Just keep your phone with you and check your email every day.

- RAV advisors are basically incompetent, failed HR people at the lowest step of the government career ladder (and final, for most of them). They dont know all the rules. They might just allow exceptions, but make sure you get that in written.
Just remember: you are an arrogant EF'ler. Your advisor at least has a job

Ask the RAV employee??

I didn't have to justify leaving the city to go to an interview. It was obvious that if I need to travel somewhere to a different canton to interview I wasn't breaking any rules (plus I got the job so that helped )

If you are travelling to a different city for your own pleasure during the week instead to interviewing for jobs, that's a holiday no? Looking for a job is considered a full time activity...
