How to get a job in CH?

Hello dear friends,

I have one question. How to get a job in Schweiz?

I'm 20 years old guy from Bosnia & Herzegovina (Sarajevo), also a Geek.

By my school, I'm a Web Design Tehnician, but also I'm a computer Tehnician.

I speak Bosnian, German (Got ÖSD A2 certificate), English and Serbo-Croatian.

Bosnia is a non-EU country, so it's harder to get a job. Any suggestions for me?

I can work from computers to hotels heh. Cheers!

Re: How to get a job in CH?

Hi, and welcome!

I have to be honest when i say that getting a job here at the moment is becoming very tough! i recently read a report in local.ch which highlighted the fact that the Swiss are VERY discriminatory in terms of employment and over50s/females and foreigners will be openly discriminated against so i suggest staying away from Swiss companies

Hope you find it easier than i have!

Cheers

Re: How to get a job in CH?

My experience, the Swiss like to hire experts. They have expats with Phd. doing a job that would normally only require a degree.

One route to getting a job here.
You need to research what is new, what is the next big thing in computing and will be used in Switzerland. Get a job in that area and become an expert. Then you have a chance to find something in Switzerland.

Otherwise, spend the next few years applying for jobs over the internet, you might get lucky.

Lot's of people want to come here, there is a lot of competition, you need to have something they want, but can't already find here.

Hmm, to be computer tehnician you need just to know hot to (re)install a operating sytem, apps and to give support for that. (Same for cell phones).

I think that I don't need to be rocket scientist to get in CH. Because I want to work, not to live on cost of country.

The Swiss don't look at it that way, they expect Swiss qualifications to do anything, even to just answer the phone.

You say your Greek & Non EU, one of the statements is false.

Re: How to get a job in CH?

These are some of the obstacles that you are facing as a non-EU/ EFTA citizen in obtaining a work permit for Switzerland:
1) There are a limited number of L and B permits for non-EU/ EFTA citizens - for 2015 there are a total of 4'000 L permits and 2'500 B permits only.
2) Your skills do not appear to meet the highly qualified requirement that would allow a hotel or other business to hire you over an EU/ EFTA citizen.
3) A hotel or other business can hire an EU citizen with your skill set from one of the EU-25 countries without having to apply for one of the limited number of work permits.

This Swiss Authorities Online page contains an overview of the requirements for a non-EU/ EFTA citizen to work in Switzerland:

https://www.ch.ch/en/working-foreign...-requirements/

Sorry that I cannot be optimistic about your situation.

Re: How to get a job in CH?

Mullhollander's right, only highly qualified/skilled non-EU/ETFA nationals can get a permit here. The criteria for employers to be able to hire you is laid out here.

https://www.bfm.admin.ch/bfm/en/home...zulassung.html

Certainly hotels, etc, aren't going to go to the trouble of applying for a permit for you when they have plenty of Swiss/EU nationals they can and must hire first. Web Design/Computer technician may get you in, but even then it's going to be difficult to find an employer who'll make the application on your behalf.

And I'm sorry to say it, but it's likely your mother's friend is working here illegally and if caught will be deported.

You speak bosnian and serbo-croatian too?

Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian are all one language with different accents, so maybe you should not list Serbo-Croatian as a foreign language you speak

Most of the people came here during Yugoslavia time and they all have permits here. It doesnt mean that shes ilegal here if shes from Bosnia.

Re: How to get a job in CH?

And also I have Croatian and Italian citizenship. I was bron in CH but lived in Croatia my whole life. Now im in Switzerland and I live here and work. You dont need to have Swiss qualifocations to work here. I have Croatian qualifications but I can be here cuz I have Italian citizenship. And that is the main point.

Your email subject could be an issue to. Always apply to a SPECIFIC job. never say you will take whatever they give you. (a job).
