EU citizen job offer/offers workpermit

Hi All,

I'm an EU citizen and was holidaying in Switzerland. I attended couple of telephonic interviews while I was in my country and later final rounds/client interviews after coming to Switzerland on a holiday. I'm currently based in Bern conton and I did ask them through an email whether I need to register within 14 days of arrival. I was told that I don't need to if I don't have any plans of residing here permanently.

Well I was thinking of returning back to my country by end of this month, however my situation has changed a bit. I have been offered a permanent job in Zurich ! Now after calling the immigration office, I was told to declare to the conton of residence of my intention about the job offer and apply for the work permit.

Meanwhile I'm also expecting two more job offers in next few days. I like the fist job offer & their client, except the salary part which is far less than other offers ( difference of about 20k+). Since this is the first job offer I got I'm thinking of applying for workpermit based on this and join that company, See how things work and if I don't like then change the job.

Was wondering what will happen to the work permit if I decide to change the job? I'm an EU citizen, so I think the workpermit will not be tied to the employer & I do not have to inform the council, am I right?

What happens if I apply for workpermit for the first company & then decide to accept the offer that I'm going to get in next few days (even before joining the first company)?

Thanks

Re: EU citizen job offer/offers workpermit

You have to register before starting work. To do that you need to take your signed employment contract to the migration office so they can start getting your permit issued to you. As the contract is signed, it'll reflect badly on you to break it so soon.

Either go with the first company or wait to see if you get another offer you prefer more. A few more days isn't going to matter one way or the other, you're still a tourist at the moment.
