Young pregnancy during notice period

Hi all,

I have been working for the same employer for more than 2 years now and two months ago he fired me.
I'm supposed to stop working on 31.01.2016 and I'm already registered at the RAV.
Now, yesterday I found out I'm pregnant but it is very early, only 5 weeks so I will be 12 weeks pregnant when I stop working.
Just to mention, I had a miscarriage a few months ago so I don't really want to tell anyone before I see everything is ok.

My questions are:

1. If I tell my employer I'm pregnant in a few weeks, can he still let me go at the end of January?
2. When should I tell the RAV? How does it influence the unemployment process there?

Thank you for your help

Re: Young pregnancy during notice period

It doesn't really matter when you tell him as long as you tell him during the notice period. If you get pregnant after your contract was terminated but still during notice period, the termination of your contract is still valid, however the notice period will be put on hold for the duration of your pregnancy plus 16 weeks after giving birth. You will therefore continue to receive your salary from your employer. Tell RAV soon too.

Re: Young pregnancy during notice period

One question regarding this - I know about a friend who is pregnant, but has a limited contract ending on December 31. In her case, I guess the termination of contract at the end of December is still valid, and that her pregnancy will not impact it, correct?
Does it make any sense even contacting RAV in such a case of natural termination of contract at the end of the validity period?

Thanks

Yes, because also in the case of a limited term contract you are entitled (depending on the circumstances) to unemployment benefits if she is unable to find work.

Also, if she is registered with the RAV (again depending on the circumstances) she may be entitled to receive maternity benefits.
