Redundancy Notice Periods in Switzerland

Question regarding redundancy.
In the UK a consultation period has to take place, this can vary from 30 to 45 days prior to notice being given and notice period starting (length of notice according to your contract).
In Switzerland does a consultation period need to take place ?
or Can you just be given notice and start your notice period ?

Thanks

no consultation period as in the UK, notice usually starts immediately or from end of month as stated in your contract

It is always tough losing your job, but you now have to follow Swiss law. Your notice starts with the letter you receive, so your job will probably run until end of February. Read the Forum, lots of info here.

If you are intending to claim unemployment money, you should start applying for jobs, any job, right now, and keep the advert and a copy of your application. The unemployment office want to see that you have been looking for a new job as soon as you heard you were being dismissed.

Re: Redundancy Notice Periods in Switzerland

There are no consultation periods unless it's a mass redundancy (i.e. 10%+ of staff, though even then I'm not sure it always applies). With the termination letter/conversation, the notice period starts per the end of the respective month
