ECHR: Judges rule employers may read employee's private messages

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35301148

European Court of Human Rights judges have ruled that employers may read workers' private messages sent via chat software and web-mail accounts during working hours.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said a company that read a worker's Yahoo Messenger chats, sent while he was at work, was within its rights.

Don't we all sign contracts that state : What you do in work time belongs to the employer .. Have no expectation of privacy, everything is logged .. Blah blah blah..

I did.. My employer is the best ever, I love them.

Perhaps people should send mails, chat etc using their own phone, where their employer won't be able to look at. All very simple with 3G & 4G connections.

Nope, I have a verbal contract, that doesn't state anything!

Tom
I generally got clients to email me direct & call me on my personal handy, therefore the company never had any idea about anything
It was their fault as they turned off the phones at 1800 & emails did not send or receive out of office hours, so I had no choice at the time in 2000. I suspect they lived to regret saving money
