Accident cover deducted from pay?

Quick question about accident insurance.
I belive that companies generally cover you for accident. This is the case for the company i work for now, but the company i previously worked for deducted it from our pay. Are they legally allowed to do that?? Aparently it is not normal... it is a swiss company but owned by English people.

Re: Accident cover deducted from pay?

Companies have to cover insurance for work-related accidents. Some (my employer among them) also pay insurance non-work accidents out of their pocket, but this is voluntary. If they don`t I believe it is legal and normal to deduct that sum from your gross.

Re: Accident cover deducted from pay?

Employers are required to insure employees who work more than 8 hours per week for non-work related accidents. However, the premium for this insurance coverage is for the cost of the employee, which is why it is deducted from the salary.

If you have a "nice" employer he will bear the cost instead.

Re: Accident cover deducted from pay?

Lynn, you said they can deduct up to 1.367%, they deducted 5.8% of my gross monthly earnings.
