What is Krankentaggeld-Police

I have recently registered with RAV and sent all the forms and documentation to the Arbeitslosenkasse. They have now sent a letter back asking me to provide a copy of: Ihrer Krankentaggeld-Police

Can someone please help me out with what this is? Is it a copy of my health insurance policy or something else?

Many thanks!

Re: What is Krankentaggeld-Police

Is your situation at all health related?

They are asking for a copy of your insurance policy that gives you a daily support amount if you are sick and can not work. This is not the same as your personal health insurance policy (LaMal).

This policy (if you have one) is normally done via the company. They want a copy of it.

Re: What is Krankentaggeld-Police

If you've been employed before by a company, you need to ask them to provide a copy (though I'm not sure they will - and I've never heard RAV ask for that either).

If you've been self-employed, you need to have had a KTG yourself. Ideally. Or hopefully, depending on the situation.

It's not the same as your health insurance.

Thank you for the reply. It is not health related at all so I am a bit confused, I have not been sick at all.

I guess I will need to contact them and hope someone can help me out in English to sort this out.

Thanks again!

Re: What is Krankentaggeld-Police

It probably relates to your employment situation within the last 2 years prior to registering with the RAV, as this can have bearing on what arrangements are established or continue, as I understand it.

e.g. things such as prior maternity can have bearing on the Contribution Period (being the time which determines the period and rate of contributions to be considered in determining your Insured Salary, amongst other things).

Re: What is Krankentaggeld-Police

This is a special policy that would pay you a daily amount in case of sickness. The RAV registration forms would ask if you have this, as it would affect the amount they would pay in event of illness, and you must have misunderstood and ticked the Yes box.

So assuming that you don't have such a policy just tell them that you must have made a mistake and they'll modify your details.

Re: What is Krankentaggeld-Police

Many thanks! You are absolutely correct, I did misunderstand the question and ticked yes when I should of said no. I spoke to the arbeitslossenkasse and they were helpful in explaining what it was and it should hopefully be corrected now.

Thanks again!
