"minimum level of responsibility" is a reference to "American Beauty", but taking offence (especially for others) is so much fun

If there were a specific requirement here to not be a prat then the forum would be a lot quieter...

Youwank, what has this got to do with you ?

The guy is happy, he got a job and he'll undoubtedly move on from here and probably go far with the level of motivation where as you will probably remain as a little stain somewhere.
Well, just genuinely curious what's the going rate for such a job. And you had no reason to be rude here. I know some people consider such a straight question rude, but I apologized in advance for it.

It's difficult to say YouWank as i own companies and real estate but on average about 5 times the EF average, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, it's really not very relevant any longer

Hello ladies and lads.

So i finally got a job in McDonalds as a crew member 2 weeks ago.
Congratulations!

Two of my friends worked their way through University at McDonalds and still say (over 20yrs later) that it's one of the most enjoyable jobs they ever had.

Yup, it was nothing aimed specifically at the OP at all (hence why I Thanked him before posting), it was a tounge-in-cheek response to Ken's baiting based on popular culture, but of course the delicate little knee-jerkers on the forum just have to voice their outrage. *shrugs*

Congrats to the OP, and he has proved many wrong about needing a high level of language skills or permanent residency permit to get an unskilled job.

McDonalds Switzerland's employees are covered by the GAV for the hospitality industry. Minimum fulltime wage for untrained employees is CHF 3'407 per month:

http://www.l-gav.ch/index.php?id=68&L=0

According to this article, the CHF 3'407 minimum is times 13 for the year, or CHF 44'291 annually:

I agree with Richdog, maybe we have all seen his post out of context and judged far too quickly.

I see the post was actually aimed at dodgykens original post (which I don't see for some reason) and nothing related to offending the OP.

So sad to see the turns this thread took - EF regulars at their best, I guess.

Congrats, OP, well done. It's a good start, and you seem to be a sharp and determined person - I'm sure you'll go far in your life. I wish you all the best.

P.s. And don't take these mean comments personally. There are a lot of good people on EF as well.

Thanks, it was exactly this. Sadly, LIB has all the sound judgement of a floret of broccoli and selectively deleted posts to make it look the way he wanted to look.

Once in a while, throughout the path of life, you come across moments which are not entirely about you; where you need to assess the situation and realize that yes, the world is your oyster and all but this moment is not your moment. When you or the other clown decide to derail a thread where somebody is happy to have obtained a job and you consciously choose to use his thread for your personal gratification, then I have no sympathy for that...and f*** your hurt feelings while you're at it. As far as I'm concerned, the matter is done and over with. You can insult me all you want, it doesn't affect me one way or the other, because simply your opinion doesn't matter in my world. Now, you can choose to be the bigger man, fess up and chuck this down to experience or engage in further pedantic behaviour, it's your choice.

It doesn't matter, and yet you write an excerpt from Gone With The Wind? Ok LIB, sure.

Anyway like you say, best not to derail the thread any further, you achieved what you set out to do.

I used to work in McDonalds and the level of responsibility is quite high there. People won't accept sub-standard food. Staff are usually under pressure and you have to work fast so it is not an easy job by any means. Sitting behind a desk is far easier.

Richdog posted before me on this thread - my responses to Richdog (mainly indicating it would be a promotion for him) were deleted.

LiB only got so excited/active because he thought there would be mention of Kenistan Fried Chicken

Re: My Experience in Finally getting a job in McDonalds without much german

Thank you guy very much for all the congrats and still more encouragement. i appreciate it

I am at level A2 of german by self learning and till now i havent enrolled in any german course, a while back i was in the komin and they told me to go to Sozialhilfe and I said okay, In sozialhelfe, I got an appointment, in my meeting the lady there after seeing that i have been here for 6 months and i already have a job and i am already speaking so much german said that she would look to sponsor me for german learning and asked me where i was interested in learning at and i was already looking at Bellingua and wanted to do a course there next month after i have my first pay from McDonalds.

Note that i dont know how much she would sponsor the course for but it costs around 3200 francs for 10 weeks, but this didnt surprise her, she seemed more than happy to help. So when you put yourself out there the universe does help you.

This job at McDonalds was advertised as maximum 40 percent which is like 15-17 hours a week at 21 frans per hour which isint much but i still applied, its better than nothing right?

Now in my third week i already have 30 hours in the week because i never complain about the shifts and work as good as possible. Even when they said its maximum 40 percent per week i am already getting much much more.

So in the end just dont give up, try and when someone is doubtful and you are confident of your skills ask them for a trail day to prove yourself and from then on its good.

good luck to everybody else
