Response for job applications

Hi Folks,

Was due to start work in Lausanne in restaurant as Assistant Mgr but before i signed contract, they had offered me the job, the owner tried to reduce my salary which i felt was pretty low anyway! I have 10 yrs management experience in Ireland, London and Paris!

I got offer of interview in Neuchatel and went there last week but am now waiting for the response!

Why does it take so long to say yes or no? They are studying my cv and interview responses at moment!

Any ideas on length of time i should have to wait for final answer?

Thanks for responses

Richard

Re: Response for job applications

Your timeline is confusing. You have had an interview last week ? The owner tried to reduce your salary after the interview ? And you have heard nothing since ?

If this is the case then I wouldn't hold your breath for any response unless there were several people in frame for the job which means it will take a while. Phone em up and argue it on the phone.

I usually give it a week after sending the CV, then ring them up to see if they have everything they need. If you've heard nothing within 2 weeks, I think that ship has sailed.

I don't know. Companies in Switzerland tend to move slower
than elsewhere in the world.

I would do the one week follow-up and then the two week follow-up.

Re: Response for job applications

Every time I apply for something I make contact a week later. See what is going on. I'm usually just told to be patient.

Thing is it takes weeks and months in some companies to get any information. For a restaurant I would not think it would takes too long.

Recently had two companies I had interviewed twice or more for. All the feedback was excellent. Both looked great opportunities. They both kept me holding for between 5-8 weeks. Then systematically dropped me, so I had to start the whole process over again.
