Re: Swiss Firms in War for Talent ?

London is more dynamic but how easy is it to get a work permit etc. for London/UK ?

Well, I was working in IT for for a large financial institution in Zuerich <cough> You and Us <cough> and I can confirm that there was a definite shortfall in suitable people.

Unfortunately, the organisation I worked for repeatedly offered low rates for vacancies, strongly resisted employing workers on a contractor basis and appeared to have no idea whatsoever about personal and career development. As such, they were having great difficulty finding new talent.

Depending on your job, you can earn vastly more in London these days. Plus, the London job market is way more dynamic. From a purely career point of view I wouldn't say that Switzerland is particularly attractive for well qualified professionals who are likely to consider moving internationally.

Re: Swiss Firms in War for Talent ?

I wonder how many statistical programming jobs are out there. I hardly see any except Novartis and Roche. Since you do freelance work, any ideas would help in terms of the clients out there needing statistical programming expertise.

Yes, the CVs will have been vetted and many of them rejected leaving only 67 CVs for the 6 posts. I think there were 12 interviews held.

You're assuming that this person makes the same salary in both countries. However, the salary for a comparable position will most likely be higher in Switzerland.
That is the crux of the attached article. Salaries in Germany are now the same as salaries in Switzerland, for comparable positions.
