| | | Can my boss have me vacuum the office/his flat?
He left a post it saying "Dave, vacuum the floor and the area around the stairs by 10:30"
Of course he SHOULDN'T be treating me like his bitch, but CAN he?
On my contract I'm an "Assistente", but it doesn't say personal assistant so he shouldn't be able to get away with this, right?
This crap isn't in my ing contract, and I've just about had enough of this c*%t. I've told him that I no longert want to be his bitch (in a more elegant fashion) and that I want to stick to what I was hired for. Now he's trying to make my life horrible and treat me like the bloody putzfrau!
It isn't in the contract, and I saved the post-it with his handwriting.
I have also saved the receipt from the brothel in Kussnacht, on the evening that he told his wife we we having a business dinner but I'm not that big of a *******, unless he turns me into one.
Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, the situation has degenerated since he got back from holiday.
He went away for 3 and a half weeks and expected me to take care of everything from his dog to his flat. He came back furious because I hadn't plucked the geranium.
Two weeks ago I went for an endoscopy due to chronic heartburn and reflux. The doc said that I don't have any ulcers but I am clearly under too much stress and need to change job.
I thought I'd have more time to look but it looks like he's given me a subtle but certain ultimatum: Be his bitch or quit.
I would talk to someone but the only other people are his wife with who happens to be an ex-prostitute from eastern europe, and our secretary who might still be a hooker.

Sounds like the situation hasn't improved so at the risk of sounding direct:
Man up and leave, while your dignity is still intact.
It's not going to get better so you're better of leaving now rather than getting more bitter about the situation and doing something you'll regret.
Barbra.

I'd forget what's in your contract and what is not, you just need to get another job ASAP and try to leave with some kind of reference.
Pulling the legal card will probably cause you more hassle than it's worth and why are you keeping the receipt, what do you intend to do with it? Blackmail him? Get rid of it to avoid yourself saying something you might later regret.

I can't really afford to leave unless I have something lined up already.
This past month was pretty expensive and they have yet to pay me last month's paycheck so I basically have 400 francs in the banks.
I have some good job leads, but don't want to jump the gun.
I also think I'm entitled to some severance pay, expecially considering the fact that I was supposed to make a lot in commissions, and have made NONE because of my employer's unwillingness to put forward a product to sell.

You've summed it up in a nutshell in my opinion. You're not going to get much out of this job financially or otherwise except for an early heart attack. Ask for last months money to be paid... once you've got it leave. Then you can focus all your energy on finding a new job

No, I wouldn't blackmail him, or anyone else for that matter but I kept it for insurance.
I'm sure I'll get a stellar reference. It's in his best interest. But what I want to know is if I'm protected by some sort of law here.

So what I though is to ask him for a couple month's rent severance, and to keep me as an employee on the books until I find something else, since it would be very difficult to find something if I were unemployed.
At least that way I could say that I'm still working there.

Sorry, my 2 cents worth:
He's got you exactly where he wants ya.... you don't (feel like you can) leave yet and still continue the job until you have a better perspective.
Since you work a lot, you don't have the proper time to look for another one and continue to do his sh*t... until some unspecified day that you either had enough or got a better job. Also, you didn't get paid on time, another one of those small but effective tools to keep someone, since you can't really afford to to anything now... pull the emergency brake, even if you fall on hard times - it definitely can only get better from there.... Otherwise get at least an lawyer specialised in employment (or similar) that can give you some hints on the way.....
Best of luck!! | Quote: | | | | | I'm too nice for that. I'm no wimp, but I stand by my principles of always being a gentleman. Then there is the part of me who would have him thrown to the lions. | | | | | |

As has been said, why are you keeping the receipt? He sounds to me like such an unpleasant character that with what you have told us,if you were to cross him, you would probably regret it...
Get out of this situation. He is bullying you big time |

Obviously we don't know your personal circumstances, whether you are supporting a family or whatever, but surely there has to come a point when you put your health before your paycheck? Can you borrow money from someone / somewhere, just to get you by for a couple of months whilst you find a new job? Otherwise it sounds like your body could end up failing on you |
