Moving from the UK, Social Work opportunities?

Hi All

We're seriously thinking of moving over from the UK to somewhere between Geneva and Lausanne. I'm going to seek work in Unix admin which should be fairly straightforward, BUT, my wife is a qualified Social Worker specialising in older people and people with physical disabilities. We've done a lot of digging on the web to try and find if/where there are opportunities for her and can only find that the health system is run locally by the hospitals.

Has anyone any experience or tips for finding work in this field or know of anyone who has?

Any info would be really appreciated.

Cheers

Rhys

UNIX sysadmin'ing can easily be done in English, but social work with elderly people seems to me to require a good knowledge of the local language (French). Is your wife able to communicate in French?

Hi

Yes, her French is good and working on improving it to be fluent.

It's can be hard to communicate with some older people in your mother tongue, let alone in a foreign language.

Cheers
