Hi EF! Just recently moved to Switzerland to join my husband after an expat posting in Asia as a Grp. Brand Manager for a large Multinational. I wanted to pick-up with my Marketing career here (have 10 yrs. experience in FMCG).

Hope someone can please reply with a realistic salary range for a Sr. Brand Manager...I`ve googled it but have found it too broad-- 100k ChF/annum to 200+ ChF ....otherwise just U.S. and U.K. rates.

Would appreciate any inputs...thanks!

Sorry to say, but shouldn't a Sr. Brand Manager in Marketing be able to find out what they are worth on their own?

Hi J.L-P, Thanks for sharing your opinion. In fact I do know what my worth is...in Asia (unfortunately )...and apparently here in Switzerland it's 100-200k as I mentioned.

Since I just arrived, I was hoping someone here who is already a Marketing / Brand Mgt. practioner would have a more informed and relevant input...and that s/he would be willing to share.

It's clear that you don't need to worry, since 100k CHF is hardly bread and water, especially in a dual income household.

On a cultural note, you'll find that here people are unwilling to discuss their salaries, and consider it impolite to ask.

It's also considered impolite to brag about your expected salary (lots of people would love to be offered a vague 100 - 200k).

Hence the replies you have received and are likely to receive to this post...

Thanks for the clarification which I appreciate. I had no intention of being impolite or to brag... more so belittle the range which I mentioned. Only that from a practical discussion with search firms and prospective employers I needed some help from a Marketing (or HR) practioner to quote a more realistic/ accurate figure (as I can discover), since the range is just too broad.

I had also provided more detail because from my search on EF I noticed there were also other questions on salary expectations with specific figures mentioned (although not about Brand Mgt roles) and also some comments asking for more detail on a person's background (# of yrs. experience, industry etc.) in order to provide better comments.

I think that range is actually fair. It really depends on your previous experience, education, etc. and whether you would work for a local (low end of the range) or international company (upper end, probably incl. bonus). You'll find marketing/brand managers in CH with 10 years experience who make anything between 80k and 250k per year....

That said, I would guess a senior brand mgr at a company like Nestlé (VP-level) would probably make around 180-220, maybe even a bit more if you have an MBA from a top school, some consulting experience, etc. But those jobs are not easy to get.....

Hi Ticino, thanks alot for your kindness in sharing the info! Very useful ones about possible level of discrepacy in the package between a local vs. multinational employer and specially about the range for a Nestle SBM... even just for benchmarking purposes.
