AHV payment requirements

Dear EF,

Quick question for the Richards et al amongst you:

I have recently been paid unused holiday pay. A 5% (approx) AHV deduction has been made. (My previous employer was unable to pay at the same time as my last working month in January when AHV was deducted as normal).

Do I have to pay this AHV deduction when I will make another one in my new/current job this month? Is it therefore possible to request a refund?

Thanks in advance.

Re: AHV payment requirements

if you earn it from an employer you pay the taxes on it! that includes AHV.

Re: AHV payment requirements

No you do not get a refund because AHV has been paid on your income from holidays.

AHV has to be paid on every income you get as en employ, self employ, extra money you get for every thing you do next to your work which is paid. Bevore 1.1.2008 there where a free amount of CHF 2000.-- a year but nowday this is not anymore valid.
