im about to sign a contract with another company but my notice period with my current employer is causing a problem.
The potential employer wants me to start from 1st May the latest, but my notice period with my current company is 2 months. Problem is I haven't talked about resignation with my manager since the new employer is applying working permit for me but it will takes some weeks to know the answer

. As a non-EU i dont want to take any risk on my working permit. So I was wondering is my current notice period negoitable? say, to shorten it to 1 month or even shorter?
Has anybody been in such kind of situation?

How did you guys deal with it? any suggestion will be welcome!
